Guarding Skills: 4N1118

Course Aim

The above course is designed to provide the learner with an introductory understanding of guarding skills duties and procedures for those working within Security Industry.

The QQI/Fetac Level 4. 4N1118 Guarding Skills Course is broken down into 18 specific learning outcomes covering all aspects of the security industry i.e.

Assessments: (Portfolio of work)

Each learner will be required to complete two skills demonstrations such as, (dealing with an emergency, (Dealing with a suspected shoplifter), how to use a radio, use of notebook, report writing, searching a person, Patron Refusal etc. One of these demonstrations will be videoed.

There is a self directed learning (homework) element to this course which will be explained to you on confirmation of your attendance on the course.

Each learner will complete a theory examination consisting of 40 multi choice or structured questions, and completing an assignment (500 words).

Skills Demonstrations:   40%

Examination (Theory Based):   40%

Assignment:   20%

Assessment marking as follows: Pass (50-64%) Merit (64-79%) Distinction (80-100%)

Course Certification

On successfully completing and passing the course each learner will receive a TRF form which will allow them to apply for their Private Security Authority license. In due course each learner will also receive a QQI (Quality Qualifications Ireland) certificate.

Course duration

This is a four day course with a minimum of 30 hours class time, alternatively this course can be delivered two evenings a week over four weeks. We also offer a weekend option on a Saturday delivered over four consecutive Saturdays.
